Generac Generator Installation

Generac generators can help you prepare for whatever lies ahead. But, with electrical jargon and big numbers, it’s easy to feel unsure about where to start. Here’s what to expect when having a generator installed.

Step 1: Assessment

Before anything else, one of our certified electricians will take a look at your home and asses the type of generator to install based on your individual needs. In the case of a power outage, some generators power only the essentials of your home, while others can power the entirety of your home. The size and specific needs of your home can help narrow down which size and type of generator to install.

There are also different fuel types associated with each generator. Looking at your home will help our electricians find the most efficient fuel type and generator for your home. The electrician will also check the available connections for your generator.

Because our electricians have completed the rigorous training program offered at Generac headquarters, you can trust them to help you decide which generator will best serve your needs.

Step 2: Preparation

To properly prepare for a generator installation, a precast cement pad will be placed on the side of your home where your generator will be installed. This cement pad will help protect your generator from the elements and keep it level and stable.

If needed, our electricians will also contact the gas company to schedule a shut-off for the duration of the generator installation.

Step 3: Installation

On the day of installation, you can expect our electricians to be hard at work for several hours. The inner workings of generators can be complex and require some time to get everything set up properly. Our electricians will install the automatic transfer switch and get everything wired up correctly to your generator.

If you have any questions along the way, feel free to ask our team, and we will be happy to explain things for you.

Step 4: Warranty

Generac offers a variety of warranty options that can help your generator live a long, full life. Problems with your generator are unlikely, but you can rest assured with a guarantee on your generator. Because our electricians are Generac-certified, having our team service and repair your generator will help keep that warranty valid.

For more information about the warranty on your generator, check out the Generac information page.

Step 5: Maintenance & Repairs

Like any machine, your generator may require maintenance in the future. No need to fear– our 24-hour service is the perfect backup plan for your backup power. We are always available for repairs or emergency service. Just like your generator, we’ll be there to save the day when it counts the most.
